User Reviews about Ritelite LPL792XLB 5-LED Computer and Book Light - Metal
I bought this for our eee PC and it's perfect. Plenty of light for the small keyboard and easily adjusted for position, it's just what we needed. You'd think it would be in the way of the screen or cause glare, but neither are true. -- lap top light
This Ritelite is the brightest book light I've ever owned. I use it not only clipped over the book, but I've also used it sitting in my lap with the gooseneck pointed towards the book. It's so bright that most of the time I just use it on the low setting. -- Excellent book light
I switched to this light from my former Itty Bitty Book Light because the IBBL had two problems that drove me crazy:
1) The hinge was so loose that the light would only remain upright if balanced perfectly. The slightest move on my part would make it flop down onto the book.
2) The IBBL burned through those tiny bulbs like nobody's business. I couldn't keep enough of them in stock. Reading only 30-60 minutes per night, four or five nights per week, those bulbs would burn out within one month.
So, I was eager to be rid of that thing.
I've had the Reallite 5-LED light for about a month now and it seems to work great. It puts out plenty of light for reading, but focuses most of it on the page. My wife says it doesn't bother her sleeping. Just in case, though, it has a bright and dim setting. There's not a huge difference between the two so I use the dimmer setting just to be on the safe side.
As you would expect, the color of the LED light is much cooler than the incandescent bulb of the IBBL. It's close enough to white, though, that I think I actually prefer the LEDs for nighttime reading.
The metal seems sturdy and well made and the bendable arm seems stiff enough to avoid the problems I experienced with IBBL, but it's still easy to point. It clamps firmly to my book without wrinkling the paperback cover.
The battery compartment is bulkier than the base of the IBBL was. So far, I've had no problems or inconveniences with that.
I do wonder how often I'll need to change the batteries. Since I use this at home 99+% of the time, I'd rather have a low-voltage power supply I could just plug in. Unfortunately, there's not much hope of finding one elsewhere and adapting it because the USB port and book clip are integral parts of the battery case. -- Plenty bright. Works great.
This little light works beyond its description. It plugs into USB by detaching from battery unit. I used rechargeable batteries, I have been using it about 2 weeks with no decline in power. It has a high/low switch and offers ambient light off the top of the fixture. It serves a small area search light if you misplace something in the darkened room where you probably use it. -- Great Product and Great to Use
Great booklight. I actually have to use the dim setting to read in bed. With other lights, the bright setting is not enough. I haven't used the USB port on a laptop yet, but the dual use is a great idea.
Very nice light; highly recommended. -- Great Booklight
